Erna take a fancy to world of sewing since High School, and start to recognize quilting since 2002 through magazine. Quilting is crafting of sewing cloth with continued certain fairish motif and patron form one separate motif or unity, like crafting of perca cloth. Then she learn technique of quilt self-educatedly during 2 week.
In 2003, she open business product of home interior, and directly sold the products of quilt. Erna choose batik pattern as one of the brand product individuality. Batik pillow case and batik pattern tablecloth with quilt design represent one of the most product enthused by buyer. Early capital which she use to start the business in 2003 equal to Rp 5 million. She use it to buy weave cloth materials, batik of blacu from Pekalongan, Yogya and Solo and also yarn in Tanah Abang, and also one unit Brother sewing machine which is second hand at the price of Rp 1.3 million. This business begin from her hobby, so that the inspiration of quilting technique she get from her hobby which is reading interior magazine either from local and or abroad.
Product of home interior with technique of quilt which is Erna made, that is pillow case, tablecloth and bed cover, where 90% owning batik pattern and 10% artless materials. Motif of quilt made, that is in the form of curvatures almost forming circle, so that it looks like flower and batik. Motif which is Erna offered its true seen simple, because according to her, customer nowadays prefer to which is simple. Technique of quilt which she use is American technique, that is using sewing machine so that yielded models modestly with quicker workmanship, easy and cheap compare to Japanese technique which is all manual. Although use sewing machine, but to make technique of quilt, forming of motif require skill, carefulness and patience.
Nowadays, the product which is made by Erna not only have batik pattern but also there is made of aliance of batik, weave weave and or blacu. Small pillow case price is Rp 30-35 thousand/pcs, big pillow case is Rp 85-90 thousand, tablecloth Rp 200-225 thousand and bed cover Rp 750-900 thousand. To draw customer/client, besides unique colour and pattern which is offered, she also beautify its brand product with various ethnic decoration. The example is she intend to give decoration in the form of copper metal coin like monarchic currency of Majapahit which is stringed up of tablecloth side. She said “Most customer of me like product which is have ethnic nuance.” She also accept order of product according to desire of customer, ordering time during 1 week.
For pillow case, she don't make only with design in form of box, but by is multifarious of form, like ellipse, square of length, circular, circular length and square. Besides technique product of quilt, Erna also produce tablecloth and gorden with technique of bordir application and in the form of small plastic mote and payet. Weave cloth gorden sold at the price of Rp 80-85 thousand / piece of the size 1.3-2 meter, while batik at the price of Rp 125 thousand / piece. In a month Erna's Gallery can produce 129 pcs pillow case, 100 pcs tablecloth and for about 40 pcs bed cover ( 1 bed cover can be done during 3-4 day by 1 people). For the production is required raw material in the form of weave cloth 300 m at the price of Rp 15 thousand / meter, batik 600 m at the price of Rp 10 thousand / meter and blacu 500 m at the price of Rp 7-8 thousand / meter which can bought from Pekalongan, Yogyakarta and Solo. Sheet foam type of Dacron and silicon counted 500 m at the price of Rp. 2000 / meter from shop sale of materials filler of sofa in market of Ciputat, while yarn bought Tanah Abang, Jakarta.
